How Long is Recovery from Facial Plastic Surgery?

Recovery from facial plastic surgery depends on the procedure. Most patients can return to work before the swelling fully subsides. Some of the procedures offered at Cornerstone Plastic Surgery include:

Facelift

Facelifts subtly reposition the facial skin and underlying muscle while removing fatty tissue. The procedure reduces visible signs of aging. During recovery, you will experience the worst swelling within the first 48 hours after your session. 

• Bruising and swelling subside: 10-14 days.
• Return to work: 7-10 days.
• Resume normal activities: two weeks.

Most patients see their final results after six months. 

Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty repairs droopy eyelids, removes excess fat and skin, and repositions the muscles around the eyes. During recovery, patients experience some eye-watering and blurring immediately after their procedure.

• Bruising and swelling subside in 7-10 days.
• Return to work: one week
• Resume normal activities: four weeks.

Most patients see their final results three to six months after their blepharoplasty, and the effects of an upper or lower eyelid lift last a lifetime.

Brow Lift

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty changes the nose’s appearance by reducing or increasing size, changing the shape of the tip or bridge, or narrowing the nostrils. During recovery, Dr. Coville places a splint on the nose to help it maintain its new shape, removing the split after five to seven days.

• Resume normal activities: three weeks.

The nose takes time to settle into its new position, so most patients see their final results after one year.

Neck Lift

A neck lift reshapes the neck and jaw for those with signs of aging. During recovery, Dr. Coville uses drains and sutures to ease recovery. He removes the drains after two days and sutures in 5-10 days.

• .Resume normal activity: two weeks

Residual swelling may last up to three months; final results settle in after six months. 

Lip Lifts

A lip lift shortens the upper lip to increase dental show and lifts the corners of the mouth. 

The procedure is best for:  

• Experience drooping of the corners of the mouth from aging
• Those who have lost their upper teeth show. 
• During recovery, patients will experience swelling for five to seven days. They can usually return to work within four to five days.
