How To Prevent Acne Breakouts In The Summer

It seems like a cruel irony that at the time when you want to bare the most skin, pimples and acne seem to appear out of nowhere. For some people, summer is a tough time for skin. But for others, acne and blackheads disappear without a trace. Instead of covering up your arms, back, and face during these hot months, use the following tips to prevent summer acne breakouts. EXFOLIATE
To keep skin beautiful and radiant, you should really exfoliate as often as you can. The summer months especially demand that you exfoliate every day. This is the number one way to prevent clogged pores and dead skin build-up that can cause acne. Get started with the ZO® Skin Health’s Offects® Exfoliating Polish and wash every square inch of skin while scrubbing particularly hard in problem areas.
OIL CONTROL
Oil glands are in overdrive during hot weather. Over-active oil glands are one of the major causes of blackheads and clogged pores. To best control oily skin, use a water-based toner such as ZO® Skin Health’s Offects® TE-Pads in the morning and night. Many cheaply manufactured toners are alcohol-based. Avoid such toners at all costs because alcohol will dry out your skin. When skin is dry, the oil glands are activated to balance the skin’s moisture out.
SUNSCREEN
Although it’s true that heavy sunscreens can clog pores, sun protection is still required to prevent acne. Just like alcohol dries out the skin, long periods of sun exposure will result in extremely dry skin. Remember that when skin is noticeably dry, the oil glands will activate and send oil to the surface of the skin. The only way to combat this reaction and soothe the skin’s moisture levels is with a daily moisturizer and wide-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 at least. If you are in need of a good facial moisturizer and/or sunscreen, then look no further than ZO® Skin Health’s Offects Ossential® Daily Power Defense and Oclipse® Sunscreen + Primer SPF 30.
