What is Fat Grafting?

Fat grafting collects fat cells and injects them into areas needing added volume. Fat grafting occurs when the transferred fat cells establish themselves in their new location. Because fat cells are alive, they will continue to behave like normal fat cells despite being in a new location.

How Does Fat Grafting Work?

Fat transfer is performed by harvesting fat from a donor area using liposuction. Donor areas can include almost anywhere you do not mind losing a bit of extra fat. The fat cells are treated and prepared before injection into targeted areas of your face or body. When transferred to a new location, some fat cells will not survive, but most of them will settle into their new location, a process called grafting.
